Kidjie Ian Saguin

Kidjie Saguin researches comparative public policy with an empirical focus on social policies in emerging economies (Brazil, India, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines). His dissertation focuses on how policy design constrains or facilitates the goals of development policy-making. He has published extensively on a wide range of topics, including policy capacity, citizen participation, and governance, in various peer-reviewed journals, including World Development, Policy Studies and Journal of Asian Public Policy. His research is influenced by his hands-on experience as a policy researcher responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating various government reforms, including the expansion of the basic education cycle from 10-12 years. Kidjie earned a B.A. in Public Administration (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in the Philippines. As a Li Ka Shing scholar, he completed a Master in Public Policy with specialization in Social Policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore and spent one semester at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland as an exchange student.
