Australia and New Zealand School of Government
Kim Carter is the Co-Founder and Director of Cyntropy. Kim is a business compliance specialist with over 20 years' experience working across regulatory, compliance, systems engineering and human resource domains.
With 15 years' experience in the private sector, she has led compliance and regulatory functions for organisations in Australia, Asia and the US.
Kim has held senior leadership roles across multiple Commonwealth agencies. At the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Kim led an agency-wide transformation programme that realised $1m in direct savings annually. At the Commonwealth safety regulator, Kim implemented the first successful programme for regulating health and safety in the Australian Intelligence Community. She also delivered the agency's first endorsed business architecture for all regulatory and compliance activities.
An experienced project director, Kim specialises in business transformation, data science, using agile and user-centred approaches to integrate human behaviour and technology (in compliance contexts).
A qualified trainer, assessor, investigator and project manager, she also holds lead auditor certification in safety and quality management. Kim is a qualified ski instructor and has been a freelance professional in the Australian music industry for over 15 years.
Most recently, Kim partnered with the University of Technology Sydney to design and deliver data analytics education for the Federal Government, directly advancing the National Innovation and Science Agenda. Kim still loves to code and is passionate about advancing the participation and confidence of women in STEM.
