Overview
Dr Linton is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Division of Molecular & Clinical Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester, and an honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at The Christie. She has a specialist interest in the clinical management of lymphoma and, since her appointment in 2009, has been local principal investigator on over 50 industry- and NCRN-sponsored clinical trials. She currently serves on the trial management group for 4 NCRN trials and is UK co-ordinating investigator for a further 4 international clinical trials. Nationally, she is a member of the NCRI Lymphoma Clinical Studies Group and several of its subgroups, and provides external consultancy for the Pharma industry and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). She was recently appointed as an expert adviser for the NICE Centre for Guidelines.
She has a PhD in Molecular Pathology from The University of Manchester and runs a programme of translational research in the fields of lymphoma biomarkers and treatment-related late effects. Current and future projects include development and validation of biomarkers for DLBCL subtyping, treatment response in peripheral T cell lymphoma, prognosis in follicular lymphoma, drug-induced heart damage, drug-induced interstitial lung disease and risk adapted management of early stage Hodgkin lymphoma. She is developing a lung cancer screening study for Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors.
Dr Linton is currently supervising a PhD student, two intercalating BSc pathology students, two APEP students and an MSc student. She lectures on national and local courses including the Oxford Lymphoma Management Course, MRes Oncology, BSc intercalating pathology and MSc Genomics Medicine Courses.
Biography
Dr Linton was awarded a medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 1994. She joined The Christie as a Specialist Registrar in 2000 and obtained a PhD in molecular pathology from the University of Manchester in 2007. She was appointed to her current role in 2009 as Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at The University of Manchester and Christie NHS Fondation Trust, respectively.
