Biography
Larry A. Lonis is the client and business management executive for the Specialty Assets Management group at Bank of America. He serves on several senior investment committees which oversee the fiduciary responsibility of the bank including specialty assets such as farm and ranch, timber, real estate, oil and gas, and privately owned businesses.
His previous experience in the manufacturing, banking and investment management industries included serving as an internal audit manager; an information systems consultant in real estate accounting; an equity research position; a portfolio manager for high net worth clients; and as an equity portfolio manager for separately managed account strategies.
Lonis has served as an instructor at DePaul for more than 25 years and at the Illinois Institute of Technology for several years. His additional teaching assignments included serving as an instructor in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) training programs for more than 20 years. He conducted CFA training in Germany and Thailand where he also presented industry seminars. He developed and conducted a training program on investment and portfolio management topics in India in 2007, and recently conducted training on financial statement analysis and equity valuation for the team in India.
Lonis is a member of the CFA Institute. He has held several positions with the CFA Society Chicago as an officer including serving as chair and serving on the Board of Directors. Lonis currently serves as the co-chair of the CFA Society Chicago CFA Research Challenge program. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society as well as a member of the Financial Management Association. He completed a three-year term as institutional director for the Midwest Finance Association.
In 2017, the CFA Society Chicago Board of Directors awarded Lonis winner the Hortense Freidman Award, which recognizes a member of the Chicago-area investment community who has demonstrated initiative, leadership and commitment to professional excellence.
