Laura Winter

Biography

Laura Winter (née Cutts) is a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist and Lecturer in Education and Counselling Psychology in the Manchester Institute of Education. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Laura works on the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and at present leads on the training in the first year of the programme which includes teaching on humanistic therapeutic approaches, integration and pluralistic practice, research methods and working in different therapeutic modalities. She also manages the recruitment and selection processes for the doctorate.

Laura has published widely in the fields of counselling psychology and education, focusing largely on the interplay between social and political issues, education and wellbeing. Recently she has been involved in editing the forth edition of the Sage’s flagship textbook ‘The Sage Handbook of Counselling and Psychotherapy’ (with Colin Felham and Terry Hanley).

Laura is active in the Counselling Psychology profession, and leads on the BPS Division of Counselling Psychology''s Social Justice Networking and Special Interest Group, which she established in 2015.
