Biography
I completed my PhD in 2005 in the field of cognitive neuropsychology at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, where I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology. My doctoral thesis examined the effects of semantic context on word retrieval performance in aphasia. Following my PhD, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Victoria for Dr. Carolyn Wilshire, exploring the underlying deficits responsible for non-fluent aphasia. In 2007, I took up a 2 year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with Dr. Argye Hillis in the Department of Neurology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. My research with Dr. Hillis focused around the exploration of a number of acquired language deficits in acute stroke including single word production, sentence comprehension, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and acute recovery of verbal production deficits following stroke.
