Mike Lawless leads entrepreneurship initiatives at the University of San Diego School of Business. Since 2011, he founded and then tripled the scale of the USD Venture Vetting (V2) Pitch Competition and the USD Legacy Entrepreneurship Conference, among other innovations.
Lawless researches and teaches strategy, managing innovation and entrepreneurship. His research won the Academy of Management Review Best Article of 2011. He has won teaching awards and recognition at USD, Maryland and Colorado. He was previously professor at Maryland, Duke University and Colorado. He has taught PhD, MBA, Executive and undergraduate students. He has been a visiting professor at INSEAD in Singapore, Warwick University, UK, UCLA and Dartmouth. Lawless has lectured at Oxford, IESE and the University of Peking, among others. He has held national elected office in the Academy of Management.
