Research & Teaching Interests
Professor Glick teaches Organizational Behavior, Strategic Human Resource Management, Great Companies, and High Commitment Organizations. He is also on the faculty of the Design Management Institute where he teaches "Managing Creative Staff". Professor Glick''s experience, expertise, and interests include: High performance/High commitment work systems: Professor Glick has significant teaching and consulting experience in the design and implementation of organizations that combine streamlined business processes, empowerment, self-managing teams, learning, and other innovative practices to achieve significant improvements in business results. Individual and Organizational Learning: Professor Glick has lectured on "How to Decrease Training and Increase Learning"; an approach that helps people learn from their work as they work. Organizational Culture, Teams, and Organizational Change: Professor Glick''s consulting and teaching frequently involve culture, teams, and change. For example, he recently worked with the management team of an informatics group to increase their skill and sensitivity to the human side of organizational change.
Industry & Academic Experience
Prior to joining Northeastern, Professor Glick had extensive experience in industry. He was an external consultant affiliated with CSC/Index for three years. He consulted on the reengineering of the manufacturing plants of a major chemical company and the facilities organization of a prominent research university. Before that, Professor Glick was an organizational effectiveness consultant for Digital Equipment Corporation for 14 years, with a primary focus on employee development, executive education, high performance work systems, and Six Sigma.
Services to the Profession
Among his civic responsibilities, Professor Glick has been a member of the Board of Directors of Camp Bauercrest, a non-profit organization, since 1971 and formerly served on the School Committee of Wayland (MA) for six years.
