Associate Professor He is the Director of Research at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing) and the Programme Director for its Women and Children Healthcare Research Programme. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, A/Prof He has been involved in curriculum development for the school’s Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing programmes and in the supervision of research students at the PhD, Masters and Honours levels.

A/Prof He’s research interests mainly focus on women and children healthcare and chronic illness management (cancer, cardiovascular diseases, kidney disease and immune diseases) using educational and psychosocial interventions with and without technology use. Her research studies have involved multidisciplinary collaborations with national and international partners. All her studies were designed to improve the health services and quality of care provided to patients/clients, as well as the health outcomes, satisfaction with care and quality of life of patients/caregivers.

In addition, A/Prof He has received research grants totalling over SGD2.53 million as PI/Co-I and SGD15.3 million in grants as international collaborator. She has published more than 160 peer-reviewed journal articles (many of which have high impact factor) and 13 books/book chapters. A/Prof He also developed three series of videos, one website, three mobile apps and two mobile games for the improvement of postnatal care, children’s perioperative care, and cancer patients’ perioperative psychosocial care. Her h-index is 22 (as of Dec 2020). More than 100 of her research findings have also been presented at international conferences.
