Biography
Luis Perera has been the Partner in charge of Sustainable Business Solutions at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Chile until his retirement in July, 2012. Perera is a seasoned audit partner with wide international experience servicing many audit and sustainability clients and projects, throughout his career. During his 38 years of service with PwC, he has held several management positions including: former Partner in charge of Uruguay (1999-2001) and Paraguay (1995-1996), and Director of Assurance and Business Advisory Services for the South American firms of Price Waterhouse (1997- 1999), he also served as a member of the auditing standard committees of the professional accounting bodies in Uruguay and Chile.
Native Spanish speaker, Fluent in English, Proficient in German, social and working knowledge of Portuguese, French and Italian.
He is the author of several papers on sustainability reporting, wrote two books on the socio economic dimension of sustainability reporting “Towards a Fourth Financial Statement”, has been engaged as a technical expert in working groups with the GRI, and his views have been included in the first study of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) about sustainability.
Conferencist on Sustainability throughout Latin America, he is considered in his region a pioneering accountant in the field of integrating non-financial information into mainstream reporting and a recognized expert in sustainability and integrated reporting
