David Eccles School of Business

Marci L. Butterfield, CPA, is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Utah in 1998 and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Utah in 1999 where she served as president of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting organization. After graduation, she joined the public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen in the Audit and Assurance Division.Marci joined the School of Accounting in the fall of 2003. She teaches introductory classes in financial and managerial accounting in the undergraduate program and is the faculty advisor for Beta Alpha Psi. Marci also enjoys the sport of women’s gymnastics and was involved as an Elite judge for nineteen years. Marci is married, has six children, five granddaughters, and a grandson on the way.Education

Beta Alpha Psi, Faculty Advisor – I am currently the faculty advisor for Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting organization here at the University of Utah. We have seen tremendous growth and wonderful opportunities for the students involved. Parent Teacher Association, Veteran’s Day Assembly – This year, I was able to have students at Oak Hills Elementary enter essays about what it means to be an American or to enter a story about a Veteran that they have come in contact with. The winners read their essays at the assembly in front of their peers, parents, and invited veterans from the community. We also had patriotic songs that were sung by one of the classes as well as a DVD presentation that was quite touching. It was a phenomenal success! 2006 – present

PTSA, Learning for Life – I teach the Learning for Life lesson to the students in the 5th grade at Oak Hills Elementary. 2006 – present
