Research Summary
I am currently a Research Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for Criminology at LSE and a co-director of the European Centre for Media and Communications at the University of Bucharest.
Prior to this, I was a Research Associate and M.Sc. Tutor at the Centre for Criminology, Oxford. Between 2011-2012, I was the second Howard League/Oxford Post-Doctoral Fellow in Criminology at the Centre for Criminology. My first monograph on the sociology of cultural production in television drama, Media Representations of Police and Crime: Shaping The Television Drama, by Palgrave Macmillan in 2014.
Before becoming an academic, I was a television scriptwriter for thirteen years. I worked as a staff writer on The Bill for seven years and on Brookside for two years where one of my episodes was nominated for a BAFTA in 2001. I have also written for Casualty, Peak Practice and The Vet. I am about to start work on researching crime news production in the United Kingdom.
