Presentation
My research focuses on cross-cultural inquiry and learning in higher education, notably business schools. I am interested in learning not only as the transfer of know-how and technical skills but also more broadly as a process of identity formation, acculturation and development of tacit abilities such as intercultural competence, ethical awareness and creativity and innovation; and in exploring how students apprehend and negotiate the messages receive in higher education in different cultural contexts. My recent research explores i) the unique features of Danish/Scandinavian higher education curriculum,which seem to foment innovation, symbolic analyst capacities, and collaborative skills; ii) international student academic adaptation – how to conceptualize students’ perceptions of their encounter with the Danish education system, and how to turn the findings into operationalizable results for organizations. This research has fed into teacher training courses and outreach initiatives for international students designed to make tacit aspects of local learning culture explicit both to local and international staff and
