A clinical psychologist, educator, and family therapist, Dr. Marjorie Blum expertly navigates the complex world of family enterprises. With extensive experiences working with family businesses and designing professional leadership programs, Marjorie’s literacy with individual psychology, family systems, and professional organizations has positioned her as a uniquely powerful ally to enterprising families. As an active consultant at the Family Business Clinic™ in the Cox Family Enterprise Center, Marjorie facilitates family dialogue and growth on a multidisciplinary, keenly insightful team, maintaining a dynamic focus on both the family system and the individuals within it. As the founder and principal of The Center for Self Defined Leadership, which offers training and coaching to emerging leaders and corporate executives, she is a notable thought leader in using a family systems perspective for understanding and managing oneself in organizations and families. Trained by the founders and masters of family systems theory, Marjorie has continuously evolved her understandings of family dynamics throughout her career. She has defined her own mastery through her role as an approved supervisor and member in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and through her study of family and systems psychology at Georgia State University. In 2007, she was appointed a Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership where she offered workshops and coaching for rising international leaders. Marjorie incorporates principles of humor and creativity to problem solving and growth and mentors a new generation of leaders as a supervisor and coach to graduate students.
