Biography
Mark Alan Blumberg is a Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. He is currently teaching fourth year design studios and first year introductory courses. Mark has also taught classes in professional practice and visual communications.
Mark’s teaching interests focus around designing within urban conditions at multiple scales and the engagement of the cultural, economic, political and environmental influences and dynamics that affect our built environment. He challenges students to step out of the material realms of architecture to consider the broader impacts that our design decisions and our roles as designers have on the built environment.
Mark has worked predominantly in New York City with Robert Siegel Architects, Marpillero Pollak Architects, Audrey Matlock Architect and Gensler. His professional practice has introduced him to project types ranging from high-end private residential to public libraries, to large-scale land ports of entry between both the U.S. and Canada and the U.S. and Mexico. He is licensed to practice architecture in New York and Tennessee and he is the founding principal of MABA, Mark Alan Blumberg Architects.
