Marshall Goldsmith is a world authority on helping successful leaders achieve positive, lasting change in their behavior—for themselves, their people, and their teams. He is the author or editor of 34 books including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal best sellers, Mojo: How to Get It, How to Keep It, How to Get It Back if You Lose It (Hyperion, 2010) and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There (Hyperion, 2007). What Got You Here was a Wall Street Journal #1 business book and winner of the Harold Longman award for best business book of the year. His books have been translated into 30 languages and become bestsellers in 12 countries.
Professor Goldsmith has been recognized as one of the world’s top ten management thinkers since 2011 and one of the world’s leading executive coaches in Thinkers50 biannual global rankings. He was also the winner of the 2011 Thinkers50 Leadership Award. The World HRD Congress named him the 2011 global leader in HR thinking and he received the 2011 Tata Award for global HR excellence. The Leader to Leader Institute presented him with their 2010 Leader of the Future Award.
The Institute for Management Studies presented Professor Goldsmith its lifetime achievement award—one of only two ever awarded—and he is a fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the highest honor for an American human resources professional. The American Management Association named him one of 50 great thinkers and leaders who have influenced the field of management over the past 80 years, and BusinessWeek listed him as one of 50 great leaders in America. He has also been acknowledged by The Wall Street Journal as one of the top ten executive educators; by Forbes as one of the five most respected executive coaches; by Leadership Excellence as one of the top ten thinkers on leadership; by Economic Times of India as one of the top CEO coaches of America; by The Economist as one of the most credible executive advisors in the new era of business; and by Fast Company as America’s preeminent executive coach.
Professor Goldsmith received his PhD from UCLA Anderson School of Management where he was recognized as the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. He regularly teaches in executive education programs at the Tuck School and is frequently asked to speak at other leading business schools and executive forums.
Professor Goldsmith is one of a select few advisors who have been asked to work with over 150 major CEOs and their management teams. He served as a member of the board of the Peter Drucker Foundation for ten years. He has been a volunteer teacher for U.S. Army generals, U.S. Navy admirals, Girl Scout executives, and leaders of the International and American Red Cross which named him a National Volunteer of the Year.
Professor Goldsmith is also the author of Succession: Are You Ready? (a Wall Street Journal bestseller), The Leader of the Future (a BusinessWeek bestseller), The Organization of the Future 2 and The Leadership Investment (American Library Association Choice Award winners for academic business books of the year).
