Dr. Martin Croteau is an expert in the field of early-stage technology startups. With more than 20 years of experience working with startups as a founder, an investor, an advisor and an academic, Martin has a uniquely diverse perspective on the factors that lead to their success.
Martin is currently the Director of Development with the York Entrepreneurship Development Institute. He was previously the Director of Academic Entrepreneurship at the Ontario Centres of Excellence, where he was responsible for rolling out a network of 59 campus-linked business accelerators and incubators. Martin founded and was the first CEO of Spark Innovation Centre, and is the co-founder of the Spark Angel Investment Network. As an entrepreneur, Martin was on the founding team of Slipstream Data Inc., a University of Waterloo startup company that was acquired by Blackberry in 2006.
Martin holds a Doctorate of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Business and Management Research from the Henley Business School at the University of Reading. He also lectures at Ryerson University and is a Research Fellow at Ryerson’s Entrepreneurship Research Institute.
