Martin Gibbons

Martin R. (Marty) Gibbons’ passion for risk management and workplace health and safety has inspired him to complete his Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) and Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP®) designations. While working in the field of employee group benefits and pensions, Gibbons has completed multiple designations, including Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS®), Group Benefits Associate (GBA) and Retirement Plans Associate (RPA). As a corporate director at Pacific Blue Cross, Gibbons is board vice chair, chairs the board risk committee and sits on investment and conduct committees. He is enrolled in the Institute of Corporate Directors, Directors Education Program (DEP) and scheduled to complete his ICD.D designation in 2023. From 2018 until 2022, Gibbons was an elected school trustee in School District 83, serving on several committees, and he participated in several governance education sessions. In October of 2022, Gibbons was elected Area C Director for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District. Gibbons served as co-chair on a large health and welfare trust and is a trustee on a large joint pension trust. He has received significant education regarding fiduciary/trust duties. He is of Metis and Cree ancestry and received his Metis Citizenship in 2022.
