I have been member of the Department of Government since 2002. Prior to that appointment, I was Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown and Senior Research Officer at the ESRC Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation (CARR). I am currently Director of CARR.
I was Reviews Editor of West European Politics from 2000-2010. Since 2011, I am Managing Editor of Public Administration. I am a founding member of the PSA specialist group on Executive Politics & Governance, co-editor of the Palgrave book series of the same name, member of the editorial board of West European Politics, and I am co-chairperson of the IPSA Research Committee on the ‘Structure and Organisation of Government’.
I led the TransCrisis research consortium, a Horizon2020 project on transboundary crisis management capacities (2015-18). This project was hosted by CARR.
