Mason P. Ashe, is a Lecturer in the Legal Studies and Business Ethics Department and teaches Sports Law in the undergraduate program at the Wharton School. He has previously taught sports law as an Adjunct Professor at the DeVos Sport Business Management MBA Program at the University of Central Florida, and at law schools such as Howard, Georgetown, and Florida A&M. In addition, Mr. Ashe designs and teaches curricula regarding legal trends in the management of social media in the sports workplace, the contractual structures of talent deals, collective bargaining agreements in professional sports, and the origins of income earned by professional athletes and entertainers for sports teams and wealth management firms.
An attorney, consultant, brand strategist, and educator based in Bethesda, Maryland, Mr. Ashe has provided legal, marketing, industry analysis, and negotiation services to elite athletes, coaches, executives, entertainers, and businesses through his firm Ashe Sports & Entertainment Consulting, Inc. Previously, he was a Partner in the Collegiate and Professional Sports Industry Group at Jackson Lewis; Co-Founder, COO, and General Counsel at Strickland & Ashe Management, LLC; a Vice President in the Team Sports Division at International Management Group (IMG); and served as Of Counsel and Associate in other national and boutique law firms. Mr. Ashe currently volunteers as the Chairman of the Washington Jazz Arts Institute and has previously been an Alumni member of the Hamilton College, Board of Trustees. He received the “Sports Lawyer of the Year” Award at the 90th Annual National Bar Association Conference, July 2015; and was named to the Sports Illustrated magazine “101 Most Influential Minorities in Sports” list in 2003 and 2004.
Mr. Ashe received his JD degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, 1989; and his BA in Psychology from Hamilton College, 1985.
