The Wharton School
Professor Bloomfield’s research is primarily focused on incentives, earnings management, and the interplay between product market considerations and accounting choices.
Research Interests: Accounting choices in oligopolistic industries; reporting quality/earnings management; incentives
Music: In addition to his academic pursuits, Matthew remains a passionate and dedicated musician. As a member of the University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Matthew earned the two highest honors the Orchestra confers: He won the 2014 Ellis Bonoff Kohs Award for Orchestral Excellence, and was unanimously named a first-place winner of the University's biennial Concerto Competition for his performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
Sports: Matthew is an avid athlete. In his time at the University of Chicago, he captained four intramural Ultimate (frisbee) teams, each of which advanced to to the semi-finals or better. He was also a member of Ultimate Chicago's 2016 Summer League championship-winning team.
