Biography
Matthias Birk is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School and the NYU Wagner School of Public Service and a VP in Goldman Sachs’ Pine Street Leadership Development Group where he provides executive coaching, assessment and leadership advice to the firm’s Partners and senior MDs.
Previously he was the Senior Director of Organizational Development & Learning at the Ralph Lauren Corporation and a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He has also worked as an executive coach and leadership facilitator for companies such as Deutsche Bank, DuPont, McKinsey, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the New York Academy of Medicine, Pfizer, and WPP.
He received a doctorate in Marketing from the Humboldt University of Berlin and a M.Sc. (Diploma) in Psychology from the RTWH Aachen. He was a visiting student at UC Berkeley, a visiting scholar at Columbia University and is an ICF-certified coach.

Matthias Birk is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Public Service at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and Vice President of Leadership Development at Goldman Sachs. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School and has taught leadership at the School of Public Policy at CEU Budapest.
Matthias previously worked as a leadership consultant and facilitator for a wide range of organizations such as Deutsche Bank, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, New York Academy of Medicine, New York Academy of Sciences, NYPD, NYU Medical School, J&J, Pfizer, Sherman & Sterling and WPP. He was also a consultant and Organization Practice Specialist for McKinsey & Company, and the Senior Director of Learning & Organizational Development at the Ralph Lauren Corporation.
Matthias received a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Humboldt University of Berlin and Diploma (M.Sc.) in Psychology from the RTWH Aachen.
