Matthieu Ballandonne degreed from Université d’Angers (economics), Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (economics), Université Paris 4 Sorbonne (sociology) and Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (economics, sociology, history).

He earned a doctorate in economics from Université d’Angers (2014). His doctoral dissertation examined the history of the concepts of science and technology in economic growth theories from the fifties onwards.

Matthieu joined ESSCA in 2016 as an assistant professor in economics at the Management and Corporate Environment Department. He teaches microeconomics, macroeconomics and the history of economic thought. Matthieu also teaches research methodology to executive education’s trainees.

His research field is the history of economic thought, with a special interest in history of macroeconomics and of the economics of innovation. Matthieu is also interested in scientometrics and its application to history of economic thought.

Since 2018, Matthieu is a member of the editorial committee for Revue d’Histoire des Sciences Humaines, published by éditions de la Sorbonne.
