Biography
Maurice leads the risk advisory practice for CohnReznick LLP, a leading assurance, tax, and advisory firm. In this role, Maurice leads a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who specialize in serving clients across industries in the areas of enterprise risk management; ethics and compliance risk management; environmental, social, and governance (ESG), third party risk management; Sarbanes-Oxley compliance; and internal audit services.
In serving the firm's clients, Maurice leverages nearly 30 years of professional experience, including in-house and big four consulting experience. As a practitioner, Maurice has held leadership compliance and ethics positions in leading, global companies, such as the Fortune 10 Altria family of companies (then composed of Philip Morris, Kraft Foods, Miller Brewing, etc.) and Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals. In his former in-house roles, Maurice has worked side-by-side with colleagues on the ground in more than 35 countries, gaining a first-hand appreciation for the importance of cross-cultural partnering, as well as the challenges associated with implementing global programs at a local level.
As a risk advisory leader, Maurice helps clients take a strategic, pragmatic approach to designing, implementing, and optimizing a wide variety of issues- and risk-management initiatives and programs, helping organizations embed these initiatives within the broader contexts of sustainability and corporate responsibility, while, at the same time, right-sizing these efforts to fit within an organization's business model and culture.
Maurice holds an advanced degree in organizational governance and compliance, and teaches self-designed, graduate-level courses addressing the inter-related topics of corporate responsibility, governance, compliance, ethics, and organizational culture. He is also a member of several compliance organizations. He speaks regularly at conferences and is published in numerous compliance and risk-management journals.
