Fordham University
Max Zuckerman (b. 1985, San Francisco, California) is a multifaceted guitarist, musician and songwriter. He received his Master of Music Degree from the Yale School of Music, where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. Max is also a graduate of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he earned both a Bachelors of Music and a Graduate Performance Degree in the studio of Manuel Barrueco. Max began his studies with Scott Cmiel through the Preparatory Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Max has received awards in the Appalachian State Guitar Competition, Montreal Guitar Festival and Competition, Sierra Nevada Guitar Competition, and was awarded First Prize in the Middle Tennessee State University Guitar Festival and Competition. In 2010, he made his Carnegie Hall debut performing an original composition for guitar and percussion by Samuel Adams. Max has performed throughout the United States and abroad, including performances with the Panama National Symphony and Bay-Atlantic Symphony. Recently, Max was invited to perform his transcription of Bach’s first keyboard partita for the biannual guitar marathon concert at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Max is currently professor of guitar at Fordham University.
Outside of his classical music pursuits, Max enjoys collaborating with musicians and composers in a wide variety of styles, from the avant-garde to popular music. He is a founding member of the New York-based band Blue Jazz TV. Max plays a Robert Ruck guitar, in addition to electric guitar, bass guitar and keyboards. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
