Kenan-Flagler Business School

Melissa Hull Geil’s research interests include professional communication in academia, experiential learning and disability studies.

Dr. Geil teaches courses in business writing and business and professional communication at UNC Kenan-Flagler. She also teaches professional communication for UNC’s Graduate School.

Before she joined UNC Kenan-Flagler she taught business communication, writing and literature in UNC’s Department of English and Comparative Literature, where received the Joseph Flora award for teaching excellence.

Dr. Geil has published in Cultural Logic, and two essays are forthcoming in collections from Palgrave. She is the author of the chapter on “Business Writing” for the Tar Heel Writing Guide (2017).

She received her PhD in English from Vanderbilt University. She earned a BA in economics and English from UNC-Chapel Hill.
