Micael Castanheira

Hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Now a senior research fellow ("Directeur de Recherche") with the Belgian National Science Foundation and work at ECARES, a research center of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (faculty Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management), where also teach microeconomics and political economics.

Also worked at Bocconi University in Milan.

Main research topics include the political economics of collective decisions, and of reforms. Scientific works have been published in leading scientific journals, such as Econometrica, American Journal of Political Science, The Journal of the European Economic Association, The Economic Journal, International Economic Review, International Tax and Public Finance, and in several books.

Member of the scientific board of the Price Observatory of the Belgian government and of the National Bank of Belgium.
