Michael Loy

Michael Loy has been within HEC Paris an Affiliate Professor since 2008, the Executive Director of the LLM in Law & International Management since 2013 and the Pedagogical Director of the Master 1 course of “Droit des sociétés” at the “Grande Ecole” programme since 2016. In 2015, he received the “BNP Paribas Pierre Vernimmen Teaching Award” (HEC Paris Affiliate Professors category).

He was admitted to the Paris Bar (Avocat à la Cour) in 1993 and after having worked for various law firms and, inter alia, at the corporate law/mergers & acquisitions department of the Paris and London offices of Allen & Overy from 2000 until 2011, he set up his own practice in 2012. In 2016 he joined the AXA Group and since then he is the Legal Head Corporate of AXA Partners.

His areas of teaching and work cover the incorporation of companies, carrying-out their legal corporate obligations, drafting shareholders’ agreements, setting-up joint-ventures (JV) and handling mergers and acquisitions (M&A), initial public offerings (IPO) and takeover offers transactions.

In addition, he has developed expertise relating to the disclosure by listed companies of their regulated information in collaboration with the stock exchange authorities and the addressing of their corporate governance issues.
