Mohamed Tahar Benkhodja is an economist and a scholar, holder of a doctorate in economics from the Lumière-Lyon II University, where he held several teaching and research positions and held a ministerial excellence scholarship since 2008 through an affiliation to the Groupe d’Analyse et de Théorie Economique (GATE Lyon-Saint Etienne), a UMR (mixed research unit) of the CNRS.
During his thesis, he spent several months at HEC Montréal. His research led to the writing of a thesis held in May 2012 entitled: Essays on Monetary Policy in an Oil Exporting Economy.
Throughout his university studies, he has been closely involved in macroeconomics issues by carrying out various theoretical and empirical studies (dissertations, papers, theses) using very recent economic modelling tools, in this case the VAR (vector autoregressive) and DSGE (dynamic and stochastic general equilibrium) models.
In addition to his academic career, he held a position as Director of Studies at the Central Bank of Algeria during 2013-2014. He has also had the opportunity to act as a visiting teacher in various business and economics schools or institutes.
He joined ESSCA in August 2015 where he has been working since then as a professor and a scholar in the field of macroeconomics and quantitative methods. From now on, as head of the macroeconomics module, he actively participates in the pedagogical and organizational management of this course in every ESSCA campuses.
