Murli has substantial experience with research projects, course and curriculum design and has delivered a variety of courses at all levels in information systems and computer science since 1996. At Carnegie Mellon his primary focus areas are lecture delivery, curriculum design, industry-student project management and research development. He lectures students in Business Intelligence/Analytics, Data Mining, Enterprise Architecture, JAVA, and IS for Managers. He has managed/coordinated over a dozen student projects with the South Australian Government departments and industry partners. In 2004 he was responsible for enabling a teaching MOU between Monash University, Australia and Kyungwon University, South Korea. At Kyungwon University he planned and developed curriculum for several IT subjects, which were approved by South Korean Government Ministry of Information & Communication. In 2003 he was awarded a grant by Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) of the Australian Government to initiate International collaboration between International Technological Institutions and University of Melbourne.
Murli’s primary research interests include minimum encoding techniques, data mining for ubiquitous information systems, enterprise architecture and philosophy of mind. He has offered several invited lectures and published papers in well-known conferences and journals. In 2006 he was responsible for initiating joint collaborative research between the Ubiquitous Healthcare Centre, Kyungwon University and the E-health Research Centre (Australian Government). He is looking forward to establishing similar research networks.
