Nicholas Dungan is president of CogitoPraxis, an adjunct professor at SciencesPo, and a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. He was previously president and chief executive of the French-American Foundation, an associate fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), and a senior research fellow at the French Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS). In an earlier career, Nicholas Dungan was a senior banker at Merrill Lynch and Société Générale, among others. His investment banking focus was client relationship management, mergers and acquisitions, bespoke structured finance, and strategic advice.
He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Chatham House Foundation, SciencesPo Alumni USA and the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce New York Chapter. He is the author of Gallatin: America’s Swiss Founding Father, published by New York University Press.
Nicholas Dungan is the founder and chief executive of CogitoPraxis. CogitoPraxis is an advisory group that assists leaders and future leaders in optimising the strategic leadership of their organisations and themselves. Through CogitoPraxis, Nicholas Dungan has advised chief executives, senior managers and emerging talents in industrial and consumer companies, financial and professional services firms and an international humanitarian organisation.
CogitoPraxis was inspired by the course ‘Strategies of Influence’ which Nicholas Dungan created and continues to teach at SciencesPo. Other courses which Nicholas Dungan teaches or has taught at SciencesPo include ‘Non-State Actors in International Affairs’, ‘Why France Matters’ and ‘Macron’.
As CEO of CogitoPraxis and as senior fellow of the Atlantic Council, Nicholas Dungan has been published and quoted by the BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, the Financial Times, La Croix, Le Figaro, Le Monde, Les Echos, L’Express, Le Temps, Libé, L’Obs, the New York Times and the Washington Post, among many others. He appears regularly on Bloomberg Television and France24 and has participated in broadcasts for the BBC, BFM, CNews, Europe1, France Culture, Radio Classique, RTL and others.
He is a contributor to International Affairs and The World Today, both publications of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). He is a graduate of Stanford University and SciencesPo Paris.
