University of Bath School of Management

Nick has extensive experience in policy research and government policymaking in the UK and internationally. He is an author and regular commentator on public policy in broadcast and print media, writing on issues from social justice, public service reform and identity politics to the changing nature of political leadership. His previous roles include Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), where his team produced public policy research in public services, economic reform, welfare state, migration, energy and environment, politics and power. Nick headed up the No10 Downing St. Policy Unit and was special advisor in the Home Office, Cabinet Office and former Department for Education and Employment. He served on the Equalities Review and the Teaching & Learning 2020 Review. Nick co-edits the IPPR journal of ideas Juncture, is on the board of the Royal Institute of British Architects and is a member of the UK-India Roundtable and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's Diplomatic Excellence Panel.
