Background
Nil Karacaoglu is an assistant professor of operations management at the Fisher College of Business. Her primary research interests are in service operations in new technologies, on-demand services, retail, and data-driven decision-making. Her research is inspired by real-world problems. She aims to explore new operational challenges and opportunities facing firms in today’s digital economy, such as the effects of digitalization on customer behavior, and develop implementable solutions for operational improvements. She analyzes novel datasets obtained through collaborations with companies and leverages empirical tools to study these problems. Her research was selected as a finalist for the IBM Service Science Best Student Paper Award (2017) and for the POMS CBOM Junior Scholar Paper Competition (2019).
Nil joined the Management Sciences department after receiving her Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2019. During her doctoral studies, she also completed the Master of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University. Prior to her doctoral studies, she got her Bachelor of Science and Master in Science degrees in Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University, where she received Academic Excellence in M.S. Studies award.
