Ning Xu

I am an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior at the Stockholm School of Economics. I received my PhD in Organizational Behavior from the State University of New York (USA), MS in Biomedical Science from Purdue University (USA), and BS in Biological Science from Sichuan University (China). Before joining SSE, I have worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Washington University’s Olin Business School.

My research has been published at The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Small Group Research. My current research interests include social networks, leadership, ethics, and emotions. I conduct my research by collecting survey data, using experimental methods, and performing meta-analysis, and aim to answer these broad questions:

1) How do individuals become leaders and share leadership roles?

2) What are the social functions (interpersonal effects) of feeling and expressing emotions in organizations?

In my free time, I enjoy doing CrossFit, going for hiking and skiing, painting and playing piano.
