Research area

Olga Sorkine’s research focuses on Computer Graphics and Geometric Modeling. She is interested in the theoretical foundations and practical algorithms for digital content creation, such as shape representation and editing, artistic modeling techniques, computer animation and digital image and video manipulation. She works on fundamental problems in digital geometry processing, including parameterization of discrete surfaces and compression of geometric data.

Olga Sorkine-Hornung is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, where she leads the Interactive Geometry Lab.

She was born in the Moscow District, Russia.

2000 she earned her BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University, Israel, and 2006 her PhD in Computer Science from the same university.

2001-2006 she worked as a Postdoc at the Technical University Berlin, Germany.

2008-2011 she held a position as Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the New York University, NY, USA.

Professor Sorkine is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications, Graphical Models and The Visual Computer. Active collaborations with Disney Research, Zurich and Adobe Systems, Inc.
