Biography

Dr. Pallavi Narayan has worked for 12+ years in academia and industry, including at Nanyang Technological University Centre for Contemporary Art and Singapore Management University Centre for Management Practice, National University of Singapore Press, Penguin Random House, Pan Macmillan and Routledge. In 2018, she was named the first Frankfurt Fellow from Singapore to the Frankfurter Buchmesse Fellowship Programme.

In 2019, she was the sole participant from an Asian university at the CHCI-Mellon Global Humanities Institute on Challenges of Translation at the Universidad de Chile (co-organized with Oxford University, University of California at Irvine and University of the Western Cape), and in 2020-21 has been a member of the CHCI-Global Humanities Institute on Migration, Logistics and Unequal Citizens hosted at National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Dr Narayan has presented her research, as well as organized, moderated and chaired events at various international conferences and networks including Princeton University, Boğaziçi University, York University Toronto, University of Quebec, National University of Singapore, Singapore University of Technology and Design, University of Cyprus, Singapore Writers Festival, Singapore Art Book Fair, Singapore Book Council and other forums. She has given guest lectures to undergraduate and doctoral students at the University of California, Santa Barbara; William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art, California Lutheran University; National University of Singapore; IIT Delhi; and Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts.

With a Diploma in Creative Writing, Dr Narayan has also given writing workshops in South and Southeast Asia throughout her career. In 2019 she was honoured as a writer and artist by the Embassy of Chile in Singapore. She is writing a long-form narrative on museums with the South Asia Speaks literary mentorship.
