Tenured Professor in Department of Management Science, School of Business Administration, University of Miami. As former Dean, School of Business, University of Miami (1992-2007) raised over $50 million in gifts, $150 million in special and executive programs; doubled the square footage of school by raising money for and fully funding the construction of seven major capital projects including DelaCruz Study Center and Faculty Lounge, Ziff Graduate Placement Center, Storer Auditorium, McLamore Executive Education Center, the Aresty Graduate School Building, the Kosar/Epstein Faculty Office Building, the Judy Newman Information Resource Center; increased faculty size from 92 to 110 working with faculty to raise their national research ranking from 94th in 1993 to 40th by 2006 (UT Dallas Survey); worked with faculty and staff to increase national prominence of programs such that by 2006, the undergraduate program in business was ranked 44th by Business Week, the Graduate program was ranked 14th among regional schools in business by the Wall Street Journal and 58th nationally by USNews and World Report; during this period as Dean, undergraduate SAT scores increased by 210 points, two times the increase for the rest of the university and freshmen retention rose from 78% in 1992 to 92% in 2007; Executive MBA programs grew from 91 students in 1992 to over 600 students in 2006 with concentrations offered in International Business, Health Care Management, General Management Studies, as well as a MS program taught entirely in Spanish. Prior to 1992, served as Senior Vice Provost for the University of Miami (1988- 1992) assisting the Provost in managing a budget of over $300 million, coordinating the university's annual Strategic Planning Process with Deans, Vice Presidents, and Board of Trustee members; managed Faculty Affairs, Chairing the University's Promotion/ Tenure Committee, and served in the absence of the Provost/Executive Vice President.
