Biography
Center for Creative Leadership
Since joining the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), Pete has directed the development of more than 60 titles in CCL’s Ideas Into Action series of books and for more than 20 books published in collaboration between CCL and John Wiley & Sons, McGraw Hill, and Berrett-Koehler. The publishing program at CCL, known as CCL Press, uses a highly collaborative process that connects subject matter experts, writers, editors, and readers under a single, guiding principle: Enhance the ability to learn from experience, because learning from experience drives action and development—for individual leaders and in the relationships among them and in groups, teams, organizations, and societies.
Pete contributes to the vision and practice of content development at CCL, stressing practicality, accessibility, and usefulness. Following that emphasis, CCL Press makes it possible for clients and others to put CCL’s proven and innovative ideas into action and to create the experiences necessary to produce results that matter—sustainability, prosperity, security, and well-being for all.
Prior to joining CCL, Pete was a magazine editor and a freelance writer. His work appeared in several national magazines, many trade periodicals, and local newspapers. He earned his B.A. (Hons) in literature from the University of Kentucky and his M.A. in composition from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he investigated rhetoric’s constitutive role in organizational legitimacy and durability.
