Peter McDonald has substantial experience working with a wide range of organisations to create high value, sustainable commercial partnerships.

He has counselled Cancer Council NSW on branding and communications campaigns for breast and cervical cancer.

In parallel, adopting an innovative tertiary sector teaching approach, Peter has won highly competitive Teaching Excellence awards at UTS and CSU. He has also taught very diverse cohorts of Masters level students at University of Sydney, MGSM and UoW, and is an adjunct Professor at Boston University.

Peter is a past Fellow of the AICD and a long-standing member of The Ethics Centre, which underpins his high moral code.

Created and taught Master's level subjects in Brand Management, Marketing Communications, and Health Services Marketing - the latter subject in Singapore.

Responsible for overall development, coordination, and implementation of the Advertising Course. Taught final year students Advertising Strategy and Management as well as supervised Campaign Development, and Honours' students, mentored an Advertising Lecturer and Course Coordinator/Lecturer in Commercial Radio Management, managed the twinning relationship with IACT (Kuala Lumpur), and successfully profiled the Advertising Course (and its students) both domestically and internationally. Also operated as CEO of Kajulu (Wiradjuri for 'to look ahead'), a revenue earning, student driven, globally awarded, on-campus marketing communications agency which I established (with VC's full encouragement and support) in 1999.

Provided private and public sector SME's with business case, strategic marketing & brand communication planning, and expert witness services. Client projects were spread across education, transport, health & wellness, indigenous art, personal care and home improvement industries.

Responsible for overall management and coordination of this national industry accredited Advertising Diploma program which operated in the 5 mainland capital cities and attracted 250-300 unique mature age, part-time students - undertaking an average of 4-6 courses per annum.

Prime responsibilities involved weekly lectures and tutorials in Advertising & Promotions Management, International Marketing, Buyer Behaviour, and International Advertising & Promotion. From Spring '93 to Autumn '95 I was invited to act as the Advertising Course Coordinator (in lieu of a full-time one). DMB&B Sydney

Had revenue and profit responsibility for a client portfolio - Bristol Myers, Mars Inc, Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Sunburst Regency Foods. Day-to-day my prime tasks were to lead strategic planning across all communications development for these clients, and operate as P&G's APAC Team Leader for Teen Skincare.

During my tenure my team received 14 Business Building Awards from P&G and I was recognised as a major contributor to building the most successful consumer division in Bristol Myers worldwide.

Across this formative stage of my multi-track business career, I gained invaluable grounding in the strategic management & marketing of brands in Australia and North America. Experience gained from ‘hands-on’ business management roles at full-service global agencies (DDB, JWT, Lintas), prior to that working as a brand manager for FMCG and Pharma companies, and initially as a business/industry analyst reporting directly to the CEO.
