Peter Wysocki is a Professor of Accounting in the Questrom School of Business, having joined Boston University in 2017. Prior to joining the Questrom School, he was Professor of Accounting at the University of Miami School of Business, Associate Professor of Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Michigan Business School.

His research interests include the links between the institutions of market economies, international accounting, and the analysis of disclosures of U.S. and international firms. His research papers have been awarded by some of the most prestigious academic awards in accounting including the American Accounting Association (AAA) 2014 Distinguished Contribution Award for his paper “Earnings Management and Investor Protection: An International Comparison” (JFE), the AAA 2014 Notable Contributions Award for his paper “Do Managers Withhold Bad News?” (JAR), and the AAA 2011 Wildman Medal Award for his 2 papers on “Global Accounting Convergence and the Potential Adoption of IFRS by the U.S.”

His widely-cited research has been published in Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Financial Economics, and Contemporary Accounting Research. He has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Accounting and Economics and the Journal of Applied Finance. He has also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and the European Accounting Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Queen’s University (Canada), his master’s degree in economics from the University of British Columbia, and his PhD degree from the University of Rochester.
