Biography

Center for Creative Leadership

Phil is a former social network analysis expert who has mapped and analyzed organizational and social networks for government and private sector clients at the Center for Creative Leadership. Before joining CCL, he worked as a social network analysis trainer and data scientist for a large science and technology company based in Washington D.C. Most recently he taught social network analysis to intelligence community analysts analyzing terrorist networks.

Phil holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Phil also holds a certificate from Carnegie Mellon in Dynamic Network Analysis and Computational Organizational Theory and a certificate from the University of Kentucky in Advanced Social Network Analysis.

Phil has authored a number of papers on leadership and networks including a recent book chapter in The Transforming Leader: New Approaches to 21st Century Leadership called Leadership and Organizational Networks. His other papers and presentations include: Impact of Leadership Boundary Spanning on Individual and Team Effectiveness; Simulating the Impact of Strategic and Energizing Leaders on the Development of Upper Management Trust Networks; Mapping Organization’s Social Networks: How Leaders are Using Social Network Analysis to Drive Organizational Transformation.
