Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Power System Plant, Director of High Voltage Laboratories within the Power and Energy Division in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I obtained the BSc degree in electrical engineering (2005) and the MSc degree in high voltage and electrical insulation (2008) from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China, and the PhD Degree in electrical power engineering (2011) from The University of Manchester in UK. I worked as a Research Associate since 2011 and then a Lecturer since 2012 in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Manchester. I am a member of IET and IEEE, member of Cigre Working Group D1.31 and D1.52, Committee Member of UHVNet, International Scientific Committee Member of ICHVE 2016, Technical Programme Chair of ICDL 2017. My major research interests are on dielectric fluids used in high voltage power equipment including characterisation of alternative fluids (esters, gas-to-liquid, Novec), discharge and breakdown mechanisms of dielectric liquids, ageing assessment of oil-paper insulation system, dynamic thermal rating and asset management. I am also working on general high voltage testing and insulation system design. I have published more than 50 research papers on top-class peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.
