Rebecca Coleman
Marketing, public relations and outreach specialist at Sauder School of Business
Biography
Sauder School of Business
My background is in the arts: I wrote my first short story at the age of 9, and then I discovered the theatre in University.
I always wanted to be in a helping profession, so I trained to be a high school teacher, but shortly after graduation, found I was called to teaching and facilitating adults, primarily as an employment counsellor. It was also around this time I started helping out marketing theatre productions.
In 2007, I jumped onto the self-employment bandwagon full-time, taking what had been, up until that point, a side-business, to the next level. I launched Rebecca Coleman, Marketing and Media Relations, offering publicity and marketing services primarily to arts, non-profit organizations and small businesses.
Being a publicist lead me to explore the brave new world of Social Media Marketing, and I now train artists, small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to leverage the power of social media to market their businesses or fundraise for their organizations. I have written 3 books, "Getting Started with Social Media for Artists and Arts Organizations," "Getting Started with Social Media for Charities and Non-Profit Organizations," and "Getting Started with Social Media for Small Business." I teach 'Social Media Marketing for Business' at The British Columbia Institute of Technology, 'Social Media Strategy' at the University of British Columbia (Sauder School of Business) and travel internationally giving workshops.
I am a passionate foodie, deeply involved in the food scene here in Vancouver, and an avid home cook. I blog and create cooking videos at cookingbylaptop.com, and my first cookbook, "Aquafabulous!: 100+ Egg-Free Vegan Recipes Using Aquafaba (Bean Water)" was published by Robert Rose in April, 2017.
Specialties: Writing, teaching, training, counselling, social media, social media marketing, facilitation, the arts, small business, blogging, facebook, twitter, youtube, blogs.
