Booth School of Business
Rebecca White focuses her teaching and research on the study of judgment and decision making, with a particular interest in the processes through which people form assessments and make predictions in everyday planning, judgment formation, and decision making. In addition to her teaching and research, she serves as Director of the Center for Decision Research (CDR) Labs, overseeing the research operations of the Center, and she also consults for private and public sector organizations regarding strategies for improving organizational decision making and negotiations.
White has been awarded fellowships from the National Academy of Sciences and the National Opinion Research Center, and has been an invited participant and travel grant recipient for the APA International Congress of Psychology, and for the Max Planck Institute on Bounded Rationality. Her research has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, Science Daily and CBC News. She is a member of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making, the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
White received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from DePaul University, and a PhD in quantitative psychology (judgment and decision making emphasis) from the Ohio State University, after which she was a postdoctoral fellow in cognitive psychology at the University of Waterloo.
