Biography

I am a Speech-Language Therapist employed at the major rehabilitation institute in Saudi Arabia (King Fahad Medical City). The main areas of my clinical expertise involves the diagnosis and management of acquired neurogenic communication disorders (e.g., aphasia, motor-speech disorders, and cognitive-communication impairments). My interest in neurogenic communication disorders (and mainly aphasia) started immediately after completion of the course work of my undergraduate degree in speech and hearing rehabilitation, and during my clinical internship. Since then I have been devoted to neurogenic communication disorders.

In 2012, I was awarded with MSc in Neuroscience, Language and Communication with first-class honours from UCL. My MSc project involved adapting the Object and Action Naming Battery for the use by Arabic-speakers, followed by using the adapted battery to investigate object and action naming deficits among Arabic speakers with aphasia.

Following completion of my MSc degree, I went back to working in King Fahad Medical City as the Head of Speech-Language Therapy unit, until I joined the Neuroscience and Aphasia Research Unit in the University of Manchester as a postgraduate research student in 2015.
