Richard Mak is an award-winning lecturer (Singapore Polytechnic, Excellence in Teaching Convention) and an award-winning entrepreneur, having received the “e-GLOBAL” (2003) Award and is a “Spirit of Enterprise” award nominee (2006).
He holds an MBA in ‘Creative Problem-Solving’ from the University of Hull (UK). Richard is the only Singaporean who has taught the Creativity & Innovation module with the Open University MBA program. He has also delivered the ‘Creative Thinking’ module as an adjunct lecturer with the Singapore Management University for more than 5 years. He has received an “Excellence in Teaching” Award by the Singapore Polytechnic.
Richard Mak has more than 20 years of experience in research, consulting and teaching Creative Thinking. He has designed and delivered training program in Creative Thinking and Innovation to multi-national corporations, Singapore-listed companies, the public sector and educational institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, USA, China and the Middle-east.
As a practitioner in creativity, he has invented Zeros-To-Heros®, the world’s first board game in entrepreneurship. This game has been nominated for the MENSA Select Award. Richard is also a director of Alpha-Plus Training Consultants Pte. Ltd.
Richard has more than 30 years of corporate and business experience. His corporate appointments include senior management positions with the Salim Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Indonesia, Asia-Pacific Brewery, a blue-chip Singapore listed company and a Japanese investment bank. His diverse experiences spanned business development, joint-venture dealings, strategic business planning, sales & marketing, banking, finance, management & financial accounting. Richard has provided corporate advisory services in several multi-million dollars joint-ventures and strategic alliances. He has been consulted in business start-ups, franchising, business valuation, business development and setting-up of internal control systems for SMEs.
