MRC/CASE studentship co-supervised by Steve Oliver (Kent) and Don Williamson (MRC, Mill Hill, London). Replication and maintenance of the rDNA cistrons in yeast
1982-1984University of Chicago: Post-doctoral Research Fellow (Julias J Reingold Scholar and Webster Fellow). Working with Tom Petes on Telomeres in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
1984-2005 UMIST: Lecturer then Senior Lecturer. 2005- merged with the University of Manchester.
1999 Founded Gentronix Ltd. Yeast genotoxicity test, GreenScreen GC, launched in 2002
2004 Switched from yeast to human cell model and resulting GreenScreen HC genotoxicity test launched in 2007
