Robert Raney is an Assistant Professor in the department of Accounting and Control at IESE Business School (University of Navarra). Robert holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Business Administration from the Foster School of Business, University of Washington and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Robert´s research focuses on settings with high uncertainty and information asymmetry. He has active projects related to the fair value of financial assets, intangible assets, and crypto assets. Within these settings, Robert´s research explores complex and non-linear value implications of information and the disclosure choices of managers. Robert enjoys helping students understand how to utilize technology and information to facilitate sound strategic decision making. He has taught Managerial Accounting, Advanced Cases in Accounting Advisory and Systems Modeling for Financial Decisions.

Before joining IESE, Robert worked as the Director of Valuation for a large Hedge Fund of Funds where he led the Valuation Committee and was responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing all firm-wide valuation policies and procedures. Currently he is an advisor for a FinTech company developing software for algorithmic based trading of cryptocurrencies. Robert also provides consulting services for valuation related projects.
