Biography

Thunderbird School of Global Management

Roe Goddard, Ph.D., takes over the leadership of the business program, bringing with him a proven resume of consulting with multinational firms and work in the university classroom and the corporate executive education/training world — both which will provide Wheeling Jesuit students new educational perspectives.

Most of his teaching experience is in MBA, EMBA and custom executive education programs.

As director of WJU’s business department, Goddard will be responsible for new program and curriculum development. Additionally, he has been asked to build relationships with local businesses and non-profit organizations to establish internship experiences for students in WJU’s business program. Goddard will teach in both the undergraduate and graduate business programs at the university and holds the rank of associate professor of international business.

“Dr. Goddard’s experience and record of accomplishment in academia and the business world — both in this country and abroad — bring a new perspective to our campus that will prove to be beneficial to our students and the broader community,” said Dr. Robert Phillips, vice president of Academic Affairs at WJU.

“After decades of teaching and conducting research all over the world, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring to bear my experience and knowledge of the world of business education to Wheeling Jesuit University,” Goddard said. “Being an international relations undergraduate, I deeply appreciate the Wheeling Jesuit identity, the liberal arts core curriculum and all that this school provides its students that collectively yield a rock-solid foundation for lifelong success and prosperity.”

Goddard comes to Wheeling Jesuit from Arizona State University, where he was a professor at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. During his tenure at ASU, Goddard’s areas of teaching and research were international monetary/financial relations, trade, globalization, strategic management, foreign direct investment management in China and financial liberalization and the economic reform process in China.
