Bayes Business School
Sam Kamuriwo is Professor of Strategy and Innovation at Bayes Business School and before joining Bayes (formerly Cass) in 2007, had extensive executive-level industry experience in Africa.
Professor Kamuriwo's research advances understanding in:
- non-organic innovation strategies employed by firms in knowledge-intensive contexts
- board-level strategies by firms and how they relate to issues such as non-organic innovation strategies, diversity, ESG, to support firm performance
- entrepreneurial strategy, and its intersection with ecosystems development and institutional context
Some of this research has attracted academic honors, both within the university and at major academic conferences, and has been published in leading innovation journals such as Research Policy and Journal of Product Innovation management and management journals such Leadership Quarterly, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research and entrepreneurship journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.
Professor Sam Kamuriwo has raised in excess of £3.3m in research funding. He is currently completing two major projects involving innovations in the electricity sector in Sub Saharan Africa, and innovations and ecosystems in the SSA university sector
Professor Sam Kamuriwo has a number of academic leadership and service positions that include - Director of MSc International Business degree (led the design, launch and currently leading) since 2018, and serves on the Programs Approval and Regulation Committee at Bayes. In the past, he has served on the university internationalization committee, and led a key drive by the university to broaden and align its internationalization strategy.
Professor Kamuriwo teaches core strategy courses in the Master's programs at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) and a long-running venturing elective for the MBAs. In 2010, he was a Visiting Scholar at Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.
